Helsinki Sustainability Science Days 2023 was the 6th edition of the biggest sustainability science conference in Finland.
The conference was organised jointly by the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS) and Aalto University. Described as a multiday summit for ground-breaking, transdisciplinary research, it was focused on building bridges between various stakeholders.
Participation in the conference was the perfect occasion to talk about the introduction of holistic science and labour market predictions in the context of sustainability education, using the Joint Bachelor in Sustainability (BASUS) as an example. There were plenty of opportunities to discuss these issues, both during a conference panel and in the novel format of a Sustainability Learning Café. Important conclusions were made, especially in the context of interactions with the private and voluntary sectors, transversal skills, and the importance of research on the experimental educational ecosystem of BASUS. We are also glad that CASS could strengthen ties with the University of Helsinki, one of our key partners in the context of BASUS.
Kiitos for the discussions and the whole experience!
