Our main goals are:
- the design and implementation of the Una Europa Joint Bachelor in Sustainability, the first joint undergraduate studies of such a deeply interdisciplinary character;
- establishing and strengthening cooperation with respected international institutions;
- the advancement of sustainable development strategies that implement the international commitments of the University;
- the preparation of indicators and reporting schemes that increase the university's chances of being included in prestigious rankings related to sustainability;
- preparing the foundations for future research and institutional projects, including BASUS Lab – a research group focused on Una Europa Joint Bachelor in Sustainability as a live teaching experiment;
- ensuring the durability and sustainability of CASS itself.
The role of the flagship project of the Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University is the implementation of several broad, ambitious tasks specified in the application for the funding. Therefore, we are unable to award grants and co-finance individual projects – funding streams for such activities exist within other areas of ID.UJ, in particular as part of the development of Priority Research Areas at individual faculties.
However, we are happy to talk about cooperation with institutions of an international dimension, in particular to jointly implement projects and apply for external grants. If you have such a proposal, write to us at sustainability@uj.edu.pl.
Due to the international nature of our activities, we use an English-language name, but in Polish it is Centrum Zaawansowanych Studiów nad Zrównoważonością.
In French, CASS is Centre des études avancées sur la durabilité.
